I’m Shuting, raised in Switzerland and also based there. I am a political scientist by training and currently work for city parliament.
I've spent a large chunk of my life at school and university, at times over-identifying with academic success and neglecting many other interests: fashion, films, games, music, actual politics. During a bout of listlessness and dangerously low employment in 2025 after quitting a PhD, I understood that these were the things that had always sustained me and would continue to.
My curiosity and desire to know, understand, analyze, and YAP can flourish outside of curricula and neo-classical revival style buildings. This here is part of that, I think.
I started blogging on a different platform (you can probably take an educated guess which one) with the intention of exercising my creative muscle and devoting energy towards writing -- something I’d done so much of in my life, but rarely for myself nor about whatever struck my fancy.
As such, this is a running experiment, an attempt, and an indulgence. The resulting posts won’t follow a logic (yet), but they will probably often be about texts I've read, film and shows I’ve enjoyed, and sometimes about reflecting on living in a society.
